Аннотация: The proceedings comprise the materials presented at the XXII Nate-Russia International Conference «The Evolving Role of the Modern Language Teacher», which was held within the frames of the National Association of Teachers of English (NATE) at the Smolensk University for the Humanities on 21–23 April 2016. The conference was arranged thanks to the support of the National Association of Teachers of English (NATE), the Smolensk University for the Humanities, the Smolensk Association of Teachers of English (ATES) and the US Embassy in Moscow. The proceedings embrace the following sections: assessment and testing, autonomous learning, best practices in teaching young learners, information technologies in FL teaching, intercultural communication, integrating basic and additional language programs, research in language theories and practices, teacher development as well as innovative approaches, methods and techniques in ELT. The author’s vision of the problem as well as the originality of style are preserved. The aterials may be of interest to researchers and teachers who work with the English language.

Аннотация: The book is a collection of papers presented at the conference “Russia and Norway: Physical and Symbolic Borders” held in St Petersburg in April 2005 in connection with the opening of the exhibition “Norway – Russia. Neighbours through the ages”. In the book different aspects of the history of the Norwegian-Russian border are covered by historians from Moscow, St Petersburg, Arkhangelsk, Copenhagen, Cambridge, Bergen and Tromsø. The papers are diverse and refer to different chronological periods. One group of articles deals with problems connected with the medieval border treaties between Norway and Novgorodian Russia, others with the diplomatic history of the border convention of 1826, as well as its effect on ethnic minorities living in the border area. One author addresses the present-day delimitation controversy between Norway and Russia in the Barents Sea. Other articles deal with symbolic borders, for example, barriers in translating Russian literature into Norwegian, and borders between the two cultures, experienced by the Russian emigrants in Norway after the Russian Revolution. And finally, there are articles without explicit references to the concept of borders, where the authors investigate in more general terms different aspects of Norwegian-Russian relations.

Аннотация: The book “Exclavity under globalization” comprises selected works by Dr. prof. Andrey P. Klemeshev. The research works are devoted to methodological, theoretical as well as applied aspects of the development of exclave territories, given globalization and regionalization. Аннотация: The development human capital is now recognized as being the most important precondition of economic growth in modern times. It should be a priority in our socio-economic policy. However, recognition of this fact alone will not produce a qualitative leap in the development of education, healthcare and the pension system. We need fundamental changes in these sectors if they are to become capable of meeting the challenges of post-industrial society. This will mean individualization of the services provided, continuous delivery of these services (over the lifetime of an individual), privatization (an increase in the role of private funding), the internationalization of competition and implementation of the latest technologies in the delivery of services.
